Suspension
The job of a car suspension is to maximize the friction between the tires and the road surface, to provide steering stability with good handling and to ensure the comfort of the passengers. If the suspension is not services properly by an experienced licensed mechanic, the ride and handling will be extremely poor and may damage your car long-term if not immediate.
Axle
An axle is a central shaft for a rotating wheel. the axles serve to transmit driving torque to the wheel, as well as to maintain the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the vehicle body. The axles in this system must also bear the weight of the vehicle plus any cargo.
An axle that is driven by the engine is called a drive axle. Modern front wheel drive cars typically combine the transmission (i.e. gearbox and differential) and front axle into a single unit called a transaxle. In rear wheel drive cars and trucks, the engine turns a driveshaft also called a propellor shaft or tailshaft which transmits rotational force to a drive axle at the rear of the vehicle.
Steering
Your vehicle’s power steering system is very complex and is perhaps the most overlooked of all vehicle systems requiring regular maintenance. Regular maintenance will reduce the risk of a dangerous situation occurring. The single largest cause of failure is a worn pump due to low fluid levels. Your system needs to be serviced at least every 20,000 km or 12 months, which includes fitting a quality in-line fluid filter.
